Tag Questions são mini-perguntas adicionadas ao final de uma frase. Em português, equivalem a expressões como ", não é?", ", né?", ", certo?". Elas servem para confirmar uma informação ou pedir a concordância de alguém.

A Regra de Ouro: A Regra do Oposto

Se a frase principal é afirmativa (+), a tag é negativa (-). Se a frase é negativa (-), a tag é afirmativa (+).

• Afirmativa (+): You are a student, aren't you?
• Negativa (-): He isn't from Canada, is he?

Casos Especiais e Exceções

• Verbo "to be" (I am): A tag negativa para I am é aren't I?
  Ex: I am right, aren't I?
• Simple Present/Past: Frases sem auxiliar usam do/does/did.
  Ex: She works here, doesn't she? / They arrived yesterday, didn't they?
• Imperativo (Ordens/Pedidos): A tag mais comum é will you?
  Ex: Close the door, will you?
• Sugestões com "Let's": A tag é sempre shall we?
  Ex: Let's go to the beach, shall we?
• Palavras Negativas (never, hardly, nobody...): Elas tornam a frase negativa, então a tag é afirmativa.
  Ex: She never complains, does she?
• Pronomes Indefinidos (somebody, everyone...): O pronome na tag é they.
  Ex: Somebody wanted to see you, didn't they?
• "There is / There are": O sujeito na tag é there.
  Ex: There is a problem, isn't there?

A Importância da Entonação

• Entonação Descendente (↘): Confirmação. Você espera concordância.
  Ex: It's a lovely day, isn't it? ↘
• Entonação Ascendente (↗): Dúvida. É uma pergunta real.
  Ex: You haven't seen my keys, have you? ↗
